DESCRIPTION: The cost-effective sealing of modern hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders is no longer a simple matter of ordering a stock seal, designing the proper gland and hoping for the best. The introduction of high eneregy systems, increased operating pressures and a host of special purpose fluids has eliminated the casual selection of sealing devices for most applications. The Parker "Total Sealing System" allows the designer more flexibility in selecting the most effective combination of seal geometry and material to ensure performance and reliability.
WHY USE A ROD WIPER ?
The primary lip of a typical rod wiper provides a gentle but effective wiping action during each stroke of the cylinder rod, to remove foreign material, such as, dust and grime, from the exposed metal. This maintains an adequate lubricating film on the rod to prevent excessive wear on the primary seal.
