The Situation

A startup with compelling technology IP in hydrogen electrolysis needed help moving from proof of concept to production capable designs.

The Ask

They needed mass production cost effective manifolded seal elements to contain and direct oxygen and hydrogen in varying pressures and temperatures. The seal design needed to facilitate efficient assembly of high-volume cell stacks, ideally with the seal element bonded to the underlying cell substrate.

The Solution

We proposed low deflection force seal profiles bondable to a variety of substrate materials using elastomer formulations optimized to provide long term compression set resistance sufficient to maintain sealing function >5 years.

The Success

Darcoid's initial profile recommendations gave our customer the confidence to move to higher wattage system requiring a scaled-up geometry.  Final geometry details are still in development prior to moving to full prototype build.
