The Vice President of Engineering with an OEM of aftermarket fuel filters was behind schedule on a major product release. He acknowledged his team’s core competency did not include seal design, and 3 critical seals were not functioning properly. Darcoid had earlier reviewed the application and predicted failure.
The Ask
Confirm root cause of leakage and propose a recovery solution.
The Solution
Darcoid analyzed as built conditions and confirmed our models were accurate. We recommended minor tolerance adjustments to assure adequate deflection. For the third seal we proposed a modified profile and a modest hardware change.
The Success
The proposed changes were supported by fast prototyping and validated by customer’s testing just in time for an on time launch of a successful new product line.
